PARIS TO DISNEYLAND BY TRAIN

Catching the train to Disneyland is definitely an adventure for the first time visitor to the city, but not particularly difficult, it is just a question of taking it one step at a time, notably-

a) Online purchase of Disneyland Paris Day tickets ( Cheapest option - see info below)

b) Purchase of the Paris visit card -"Carte Paris Visite" for metro, bus and RER ( suburban) train travel - This is an essential item for almost all visitors to Paris as it covers for all normal holiday travel needs. The "zone 1-3" card will get you around central Paris ok, whilst the "zone 1-5" card will get you from Paris to Disneyland by train using the RER suburban train system - It will also take you out of the city to the palace of Versailles and to some other popular external destinations. These tickets are available at all metro station ticket offices and other shop/supermarket outlets and pavement newspaper stands etc. The cards are for a set period of time eg 3 days/5 days etc - Tickets also double as excellent discount entrance cards for many popular tourist attractions. The tickets run from day to day ( not "time to time" ) and should be purchased early in the morning to get the most cost effective use. "Carte Paris Visite" prices ( 2011) are as follows - children (under 11) approximately half price -

"zone 1-3" - 1 day 9.30 Eu - 5days 29.90 Eu

"zone1-5" - 1 day 19.60 Eu - 5days 51.20 Eu

c) catching an RER ( suburban train) at any of 5 Paris train stations ( see below for details)

GETTING FROM PARIS TO DISNEYLAND BY "RER" SUBURBAN TRAIN

As mentioned above the train from Paris to Disneyland can be caught at any of 5 city train stations, notably Charles de Gaulle Etoile, Auber, Chatelet Les Halles, Gare de Lyon and Nation. The platform that you are looking for is the RER line A4 marked with two adjacent circled symbols" "RER" in blue and the letter"A" in red - Your destination train station adjacent Euro Disney is "Marne lee - Vallee" and the longest you will have to wait for a train will be 30 minutes ( usually about 15 minutes). Trains currently ( 2011) commence from the Gare de Lyon at 5.22 with the last being at 12.39 - Travel times range from 40 - 45 minutes. Please ensure that you have your travel ticket or valid Paris visit card with you as the absence of these can lead to a fine.
